24 Trained On Effective Use of Gender Bench Book

Kampala. Twenty four participants from Justice Law and Order Sector institutions are taking part in a two-day workshop on how to use the Gender Bench Book and other existing mechanisms toend violence against women and girls in Uganda. 

The training which is taking place at the Judicial Training Institute (JTI) is supported by UN Women.

HW Elias Kisawuzi, the Registrar in charge of Training, opened the workshop saying the key output of the training is to enlighten participants on the existing National, Regional and International Legal and Policy Frameworks for ending violence against women and girls.

The training is facilitated by Magistrates HW Lillian Bucyana, HW Agnes Alum and HW Peter Fred Lochomin.

The workshop is a result of a capacity building project between JTI and UN WOMEN dubbed 'Capacity Strengthening for delivery of Gender Responsive Justice Services in the Uganda Judiciary'
